Resourcefulness! A Key To Internet Marketing Achievement!

March 27th

After working with tons of customers over the years, I’ve paid close attention to what makes people tick.  I’ve watched closely to see the differences between those who achieve good results and those who never do get over the hump.  I’d like to think I’ve identified many different areas or traits, or whatever you want to label it, as to the differences.

One of the MAIN areas I’ve witnessed about a gillion times is this trait:

Resourcefulness!

I think that’s the best word to describe it.  I’m not sure if there’s a better word that describes what I’m referring to here, but so far, that’s the best word I’ve found.  Some people have it… most don’t.  Unfortunately for the great many who DO NOT have resourcefulness, good results are seldom achieved.

Basically, it means to “figure it out”.

Let me explain… many people in this business who are trying to get over the hump or make their first breakthrough dollars online… instinctively look to someone else to do it for them.  Why not, most of us are used to people paying us a paycheck every two weeks, telling us when we can or cannot take vacations, writing us up, reprimanding us, giving us speeding tickets, running our lives and restricting what we do.

Therefore, we often operate in this box… where we expect things to just be given to us.  We don’t like to think for ourselves, and many of us expect every single detail or thought to be answered by someone else.  Sure, if you buy a product on how to make money online, you should expect a lot of details and instructions.

However, it’s almost impossible for every product creator to think of every single thought or detail that may or may not come up or need to be answered by customers who buy that product.  This is understandable of course, but what separates the successful from the non-successful is resourcefulness.

You see, those who succeed figure out those missing details or they fill in the blanks by figuring it out themselves.  They think about the challenges or obstacles and problem solve.  They see a challenge and dont see a failure.  They look for ways around, over or through the obstacle.  Nothing is perfect and no two businesses are often identical.  If I followed a step-by-step blueprint and you followed that exact same blueprint, there’s a pretty good chance we’d still do things a bit differently.

Maybe I write bad copy, or perhaps your graphics look better.  Maybe I’m good at engaging my visitors with my voice and videos.  Maybe you’re good at capturing them with compelling copywriting.  Maybe I use Google Adwords and you use Yahoo to drive traffic.  Maybe I hate Facebook and you love it to death?

The point here is, those who can figure it out themselves and make it work, any means necessary, are often the ones who succeed.  Those who find a negative, or obstacle, or challenge in pretty much everything… and use those obstacles or problems as excuses to quit and move on to something else, often fail.

Look, there’s always an answer.  There’s always a way.  There’s always an opportunity to adapt.  And, in every failure there’s opportunity.  Therefore, the next time you feel frustrated that you don’t have ALL of the answers and all the details covered and thought of for you, instead of remaining frustrated or quitting, focus on how YOU can figure it out yourself… or find a way over or under, around, or through any obstacle.

This may sound simple and obvious to you, but to many-many out there, this one major trait, “resourcefulness” is the major road block that’s keeping them down.  You see, for many out there, they do not even ask questions.  They do not seek answers to the pieces of the puzzle they are missing.  They dont even Google it! They just chalk it up as yet another opportunity that’s not for them… another opportunity they wasted their time (or money) on… another opportunity to seek/search some other opportunity that might be a better fit.

For me, I had problems with technical stuff (still sort of do).  For a while, that one challenge has held me back.  I’ve noticed it holds many back.  It does not have to.  There are plenty of people who can do it for you.  I’ve seen the same thing with copywriting and conversions.  Most people suck at it, yet they continue to write their own copy… and then wonder why they cannot convert.  Conversions are a major obstacle to succeeding online. A large percentage of the market is totally terrible at it,  yet they cannot afford to pay someone to do it for them, so they are stuck.

Some people go years and years in this market with the same major problem preventing them from succeeding — conversions!  Yet, years later, they still cannot afford to hire someone to do it for them… and they have not figured out a way to cover this weakness.

What would a resourceful person do?

As I read this I realized that I totally agree except my word for it is stick-to-it-tivness. (Is that spelled right?) That drive to never give up. Just keep trying. Keep looking till you find it, No matter what. Which comes to one of my favorite sayings “You can’t beat a man who won’t be beat.” Kinda sounds like double speak but WOW how true!

Eric this is right on point and so many people miss it!
Why would anyone expect without putting in much effort
    to get anywhere online?
Money is available to be made and plenty of it, when
your eyes are finally opened and you have that “aha”
    moment!
It is only when you keep digging do you realize the
answers are “all” right in front of your eyes, but this is
a business and just like anything else it takes work!
But the end result is so……….worth it.
So may I encourage those who won’t quit, there is a profit
at the end of the tunnel and much of it to grab and enough
    for everyone to go around!
“Be your own guru! and stop getting sucked in by all the get
    rich crap online!”
Be blessed and thanks for your wonderful insight.
